Another go ... sorry

Really wanted to keep on top of this but Family and work have simply let it slip and fall down my list of priorities but here is a rare update on things. the 2011/12 season saw Bridlington Town under the guidance of new Manager Mitch Cook and Bridlington Town favorite Phil Harrison. Phillo who it was said made his 500th appearance in a Bridlington Town shirt quit the club due to wanting to spend time with his family but he had certainly done the club proud. We managed to get to the FA Vase 3rd round but came up against the Vase holders Whitley bay who had also won it the year before and although we created a few chances Whitley bay proved to be too strong for us and ended up 5-1 winners. to cut things short my low points of the season would have to be. 1) Defeat at Maltby main on the opening day of the season 2) the 2-2 draw at Selby Town 3) 2-0 up v Arnold Town only to end up with a draw 4) the 5-2 home defeat to Parkgate 5) the 3-1 defeat at Pickering Town 6) the 2-1 defeat at Staveley this was a heartbreaking defeat after a shocking dive deep into stoppage time that conned referee Mark Dwyer into giving Staveley a penalty and in a way handing the league title to Retford United. And the highlights 1) Boxing day v Scarborough Athletic they are a big club i dont care what people say and this year under the guidance of the great Rudy Funk they were going to win the league again (My mates words and about 200 other Boro fans) We won the game 3-1 2) the 2-1 away win at Scarborough despite being 1 nil down it was a great day for Scarborough lad Billy Logan who scored two second have goals to secure a great double over the tenants. 3) the 9-0 v Lincoln Moorlands Josh Greening scored 5 and Craig Hogg got 3 with that man Billy Logan grabbing the 9th 4) two nil down at half time at Armthorpe and showed amazing character to come back and win 4-2 5) The East riding senior cup final, we had reached this final twice in recent years and despite playing very well we ended up losing out to North Ferriby well the 2011/12 season had seen Ferriby knocked out and Hull City were beaten by Hall Road reserves who we would face in the final it was a horrible wet night and Hall Road went two goals ahead after 30 minutes and it was not looking good for Bridlington Town. Town's midfield dynamo Ashley Allanson pulled a goal back on 38mins and that's how it stayed until the second half. did a different Town team come out or did our fitness come out on top but although Hall road never gave up Town went on to hammer Hall Road for the second time this season Josh Greening scored 5 other goals came from Billy Logan, Craig Palmer and Club Captain Tom Fleming. i kind of felt sorry for Hall Roads reserve lads they never gave up the cause but it was so good for us to get our hands on that trophy.
